St Andrew Episcopal penny (Rochester) of Ecgberht of Wessex. The obverse is as North 1980 Vol I Plate VIII no 5, but the reverse, while bearing the SCS ANDREAS legend, has at the centre a six-armed rosette with wedge-form arms centred on a pellet. One interest in this discovery is that Freckenham was restored to Rochester as a possession by Archbishop Lanfranc, together with Falkenham and Stoke Denniton, as a place which had formerly belonged to them but which had been taken away during the Viking Wars.
