A small fragment from an unidentified silver object, possibly a finger-ring. It is oval in section and at one end splits into two distinct bands that are also oval shaped in section, producing a very curved inner surface and an outer surface that is only slightly curved. A complete copper-alloy Roman probable furniture fitting or handle. The object consists of a decorative knob comprising a lower hemispherical section encircled by a pair of fine grooves at its lower end and a extending from the centre of its upper face a spool-shaped section, followed by a small hemispherical knop at the apex. A fragment of the shoulder and bezel of a late medieval silver finger-ring, now distorted and almost flattened. The remaining part of the bezel is formed from a recessed area which originally would have held a large stone or piece of glass. The wide shoulder, which narrows to the hoop of the ring, is engraved with the figure of a bird amid curling foliage.

A silver finger-ring with slender circular hoop, gently cambered on its outer face and lightly expanded to form the flat bezel, on which was formerly some kind of soldered attachment, now lacking, which ran onto the shoulders. The type is not particularly diagnostic, but may be Roman. The hoop has an external diameter of 21mm and an internal diameter of 18-19mm; it is 6mm wide. Vertical rib joins head and end of coil to give crescent shaped external body. Extending from this is a right angled leg with pellet joint. Reverse: Beaded standard with central ring and dot motif.
