A copper-alloy fragment of a late Medieval to Post Medieval purse frame, dating AD 1450-1550. It consists of a slightly curved bar, which is V-shaped in cross-section and has the remains of a circular perforation at one end. On the front of the bar is an incised inscription, reading: DOMIN[I NOSTR]I. The surfaces are in fair condition. Cf. Ward Perkins (1975: 165), Type A2; Saunders (2012: 107) no.171, Williams (2018: 3, fig. 6).

Description: A silver Post Medieval to Modern clasp, dating to AD 1786-1862. It is a sub-rectangular plate, which has a blunt downturned hook on the lower edge and three sewing holes on the upper edge. The short sides expand towards the top edge, creating two rounded corners. Description: A complete silver post-medieval hawking vervel and a fragmentary braided silver wire cord found close together. The vervel (fig.1) is D-shaped in cross-section with a flat outer face and rounded reverse (Lewis & Richardson Type B). There is a transverse join visible at the break in the legend. The outer face is inscribed with: 'In Fresenfield neere Harlston~' in italic script., with a long letter 's'. Description: A complete but slightly distorted silver thimble dating to the Post-Medieval period, c. 1600-1700. The thimble is of two piece construction, consisting a sheet metal base/wall soldered together at one edge and a separate domed crown soldered to the top of the sides. Description: A complete cast silver annular brooch dating to the Post-Medieval period, probably 17th century. It is circular in plan, with a slightly hollowed back and plano-convex section to the frame. The outer face is faceted and on each facet is an inscribed letter, which together read '+IESVI.DE.RVERIEHEMEDVHEZMIE X'. A fragment of a copper alloy post-medieval spur. Only the end of one arm survives. This is straight and terminates in two lobes, each with a circular bevelled hole through its centre. Behind this there are two wider rectangular sections, the outer face of each decorated with a transverse groove, followed by a trapezoidal section of the spur arm and then another rectangular section decorated with a groove. The metal survives in good condition with a green-red patina. It is similar to another example from Suffolk recorded with the PAS (SF-7DBB1E). Suggested date range: 1500-1700 AD. …
