A complete polished flint axehead of Neolithic date. It is struck from a pale white to grey flint, is plano-convex in section, oval in form and has a crescentic blade. The axe has the remains of an all-over polish with flake rermoval at the blade end of both faces resultant from retouch or re-sharpening of the cutting edge in antiquity. This axe measures 135.82mm in length, 58.11mm in width, 37.40mm in thickness and 296.41g in weight. This axe dates to the Neolithic period, c.4000-2550 BC.

A small flint object, possibly a small leaf-shaped arrowhead struck on a blade. It has a mottled brown flint, with parallel blade scars on the dorsal face and limited edge retouch. The entire object measures 28.90mm in length, 14.30mm in width, 3.94mm in thickness and 1.78g in weight. This is a possible leaf-shaped arrowhead struck on a small blade. If this is indeed the case then it is likely to be of Neolithic date (c.4000-2550 BC), however is it is simply a retouched blade then an earlier Mesolithic date cannot be ruled out entirely. Dr Kevin Leahy writes: while this object has …

An unpatinated and part polished flint axehead of Neolithic date. It is struck from a dark grey/brown flint and has relatively straight sides with a pointed-oval shaped cross section. The blade end is roughly crescentic in form but has suffered from some damage to the cutting edge itself resulting in uneven flake removal. Both faces have extensive and fine flake removal and the remains of polished surfaces are visible particularly in higher areas of the faces and towards the blade ends. Areas of polishing at the blade end towards the end of flake scars indicates that it was probably n…

An incomplete polished flint axe of Neolithic date. Only one end of the axe survives intact, the remainder now missing due to old breaks. It is oval sectioned, triangular in form and tapers towards a cutting edge that has relatively neat edge retouch. Both faces have bifacial flake removal with traces of polishing are visible on both sides in very small patches. The entire object has a mottled dark red/brown to white patination that is visible at the old break as well as on all other exterior surfaces, indicating that it was damaged in antiquity and has been subject to subsequent stai…

An unpatinated and incomplete leaf-shaped lithic implement of Neolithic date. At least half of the object, including the point, is missing due to old breaks. It is struck from a grey flint that has a hinge fracture at one end, all-over bifacial retouch with flake removal and edge retouch on both faces. It measures 49.57mm in length, 24.49mm in width, 5.53mm in thickness, and weighs 6.51g. This is probably a flint 'Laurel-Leaf' point typical of the Early Neolithic period. Lithics of this form have an unknown function but are sometimes suggested as roughouts for leaf-shaped arrowheads…
