Decorated lead fragment. Sub-rectangular, two edges are broken and the other two are made from the curving neck and head of an animal. The neck is wide and decorated with a running spiral between two wide raised bands; a tiny dot eye is enclosed within a frame and below is a raised crescent. The head probably ended in a curving beak but this is now missing. It is just over a millimetre thick.
John Hines has seen an image of the fragment, and agrees that it there are four possibilities. Most probably it is a fragment of a lead model used in the manufacture of a wrist-clasp. …
