A silver early-medieval penny of Offa (757-796), Light Coinage portrait type (Chick 179var),dating c.780/5-792/3, moneyer Wihtred (Pihtred), East Anglian mint (probably Ipswich). Ref: Chick 2010: 138-9. Obverse: draped bust right within inner pelleted border, +OFFA+REX+. Reverse: floriate cross crosslet with lozenge shaped centre, within which is a flower, moneyers name in angles around, +PI/IH/TR/Ed.

The coin is complete but bent and there is a small rip in the outer edge at 11 o'clock on the obverse. This coin is likely to be a continuation of a previous hoard of silver Eadmund pennies recorded through the Treasure Act as 2004 T115 (SF-077A54, SF-076841, SF-D99E44), 2008 T138 (SF-E1C3B5), 2010 T720 ( SF-AAFFB2) and (SF-C21281). This record is an administrative error duplicate of SF-C21281. This will be resolved shortly.
