Fragment of copper-alloy ?tracer or awl. Pointed, circular-section end survives complete (sharp point); small part of rectangular-sectioned end (chisel-ended tracer?) survives. Break looks relatively recent and unpatinated. The rest is patinated medium/dark green. Probably Bronze Age. Surviving length 36 mm, thickness (at rectangular-sectioned centre point) 6 x 5 mm, weight 3.91g.

Copper-alloy fragment, probably from a tracer or awl, consisting of a rod with a slightly expanded junction between square- and rectangular-section shafts. Both ends are missing (old breaks) and the object is bent in both directions. Medium or dark grey to brown patina, with small patches of pale green invasive corrosion. There are good parallels among complete Bronze Age tracers/awls, but without the ends surviving the identification cannot be certain. Surviving length 61 mm.

Copper-alloy object which may just possibly be a Bronze Age awl. It is square in section and has four lozengiform faces; in the centre the maximum dimensions in cross-section are 5 x 5 mm. Both ends are probably broken and the surviving length is 24 mm. There are longitudinal grooves on two faces which may possibly be the result of manufacture from hammering rolled and folded sheet rather than from casting. The surface, where it survives, is a mid green colour.

Small, complete, pointed and chisel-ended tracer/awl. Good condition, use-worn and resharpened. Medium/dark green patina. Slight, circular sectioned 'tang'; chisel end has resharpening bevels and has a rectangular cross-section with edge bevels away from cutting edge.

Awl or tracer/awl made from copper alloy. The awl end is long and pointed; the tip is circular in cross-section, but becomes gradually flattened into a sub-rectangular cross-section as it widens towards the thickest part of the shaft. This is about 50 mm from the awl tip. The other end, possibly a tracer, is shorter and rectangular in cross-section; although now broken, it may have been chisel-ended. It is less well finished than the awl end and is slightly bent, which may indicate that this end was a tang around which the awl was hafted, rather than a tracer end in its own right. …

Complete bronze double ended tracer awl. Square cross section throughout apart from the tips where rounded. Both ends are worn - one pointed end, the other possibly originally chisel form but worn to a rounded shape. Pale green-grey patina, some corrosion but the surface is relatively intact. Length 50mm, width at maximum point in centre 6mm, thickness 5.5mm. Probably Bronze Age.

A worn copper-alloy awl, late Bronze Age or possibly Roman in date. It is possibly incomplete although it is difficult to tell due to wear. This awl measures 34.3mm in length and 3.4g in weight, it has one square sectioned end, c5mm in width and thickness and one oval sectioned tapering end, 4.4mm in width and 4.1mm in thickness. The square sectioned end may be incomplete as its terminal is worn but it looks like an old break.

A complete copper-alloy tracer/awl measuring 49mm in length and 4mm in maximum thickness. It is slightly bent. It has relatively uneven surfaces, partly due to corrosion but also as it was probably never finished to a high standard. The shorter pointed half has a circular cross-section and the longer 'tracer' half has a sub-square cross-section with a rounded chisel-end. This awl is Bronze Age in date.

A very small and short copper-alloy Bronze Age awl. Measuring 33.2mm in length, 5mm in width at its widest point and 4.8mm in thickness, at its thickest point. It has a rectangular cross-section the four edges of this awl appear to be faceted. Both tips taper to a sharp point c1.1mm in thickness and c3.6mm in width. This awl is unusual due to its small size, which is presumably due to extreme wear and re-use sharpening.

An incomplete cast copper-alloy tracer or awl of Bronze Age or possibly Roman date. The tapering chisel-shaped end and most of the rectangular cross-sectioned shaft of this awl survives the other terminal is missing due to an old break. This awl measures 44mm in surviving length, 5mm in width and 4mm in thickness at its thickest point. Both terminals taper and become thinner towards their tips.
