Object type: BELL
Broad period: MEDIEVAL
County: Suffolk
Workflow stage: Published Find published
An unusual cast copper-alloy clapper bell, possibly incomplete; of Medieval date. The bell is a silvery colour perhaps due to a high led and tin content. It has an integral suspension loop with a circular hole, and is circular in plan and the hollow body is semi-circular in shape. The lower open edge has eight semicircular voids (possibly incomplete below) - if so, the body of the bell became like an openwork cage at this point, however the completeness or otherwise of the bell remains uncertain due to wear. It measures 28.26mm in height and 29.04mm in width. The outer face …

Object type: HOOKED TAG
Broad period: EARLY MEDIEVAL
County: Suffolk
Workflow stage: Published Find published
A silver hooked tag. The plate is oval in shape with two circular holes set next to each other near to the upper edge. The plate's edge is and damaged on one side. The hook projects from the centre of the lower edge and curves backward abruptly to terminate in a point. Both faces of this hooked tag are undecorated. The hooked tag dates to the 9th to 11th century. This small hooked tag is similar in form to other previous examples, such as an example from Barton Bendish, Norfolk (2003 T233) (Treasure Annual Report 2003), although this and other parallels are decorated.
