A sherd from the base of a Roman Oxfordshire ware mortarium. Both surfaces and margins are an oxidised orange, while the core is reduced grey. The fabric is fine and tempered with plentiful fine mica. The internal surface is gritted with mixed rounded and angular quartz grit. Weight: 50.68g

A sherd from the base of a Medieval coarseware vessel (MCW). The fabric is hard and coarse and is tempered with poorly sorted rounded quartz sand (<1.5mm) and black fragments (<0.5mm). It has light brown surfaces and a reddish-brown core. It appears to have been deliberately broken down into a circular shape - perhaps for reuse as a lid. Weight: 26.70g
