A complete copper-alloy Roman vessel mount dating to the 2nd-3rd Century. It is broadly rectangular and roughly semi-circular in cross section. The mount depicts a female head with stylised features,with a headdress or helmet. At the base of the face there is drapery decorated with incised grooves. The face is fairly worn with oval eyes, moulded nose and mouth. The headdress terminates in a circular loop which would have allowed the handle to be attached to the vessel at a 45 degree angle. An incomplete copper-alloy casket key. The stem is rectangular in cross section and solid to the tip. The bit is a flattened rectangular shape with a small cleft cut into either side and is incomplete at the end of the stem. The bow is a flattened loop shape.
