The foot and incomplete catchplate of a Roman bow brooch. The bow has a deep central groove, giving it a U-shaped section and shollow grooves bound trasnverse hatching on the top faces each side. The foot terminal is missing. The surviving part of the catchplate is unusual in having light incised decoration on both faces consisting of hatched and open triangles. This foot measures 23.27mm in surviving length and the width across the catchplate is 10.89mm, across the bow is 6.09mm. A complete cast solid copper-alloy Roman knob with the remains of an iron shaft projecting from its underside which is probably most likely to have functioned as a handle for furniture. The knob is conical in over all shape with a terminal rounded knop, below which there is a circular projecting disc, it then flares towards its base where there is another flat disc. The iron shaft is cylindrical in shape. It measures 24.55mm in length and 9.15mm in width.
