A sherd from the body of a large late Iron Age to early Roman ceramic earthenware vessel. A thick-walled vessel with a very hard, coarse fabric tempered with spare poorly sorted white quartz (<2mm) and frequent red clay-like pellets (grog?). Dark brown core and surfaces with smooth outer face decorated with a series of parallel grooves. It is too small in size to determine the original form of the vessel.
