A fragment of a cast copper-alloy strap fitting (swivel) of medieval date (c.1066-1400).
Description: The object remains as one of the zoomorphic terminals and a section of its loop. A stub of the bar projects from the animal's mouth. The animal head is moulded and symmetrical on both sides. It has multiple, deep incised grooves indicating eyes, a snout and low ears which project slightly. Cast copper-alloy strap or belt fitting of Roman to Medieval date.
The item is rectangular in shape with an recessed rectangle inside which there is a raised rectangular mound. There are tabs at either side of the mount though these are broken.
There is a single copper-alloy rivet at the centre of the mount on the back, which is plain and undecorated. The patina is generally smooth and the colour is a dark grey/green.

Medieval to Post Medieval copper alloy strap fitting formed of two rectangular plates. The upper plate terminates in an incomplete hooked end. The two plates are joined by two copper alloy rivets, one of which terminates in a loop. The plates are undecorated other than a narrow incised line bordering the edges of the upper plate. It weighs 5.2 grams, is 26.41mm long, 12.68mm wide, 3.28mm thick. The rivet with loop is 7.65mm long.

Iron Age to Roman (1st century BC to 1st Century AD) cast copper alloy strap junction; formed of two conjoined openwork circles arranged as a figure eight, with a projecting strap bar on the two longest edges. The strap bars are cylindrical with a perpendicular 'D' shaped terminal at each end which joins them to the openwork circles. It is 33.80mm long, 32.35mm wide, 6.09mm thick and weighs 21.45 grams. The strap junction has an even mid-green patina.

Incomplete Iron Age cast copper alloy strap fitting. The surviving section is approximately half of an oval, with a pointed end. The upper surface has cast decoration of two curved arms within a slightly depressed circle. The reverse has an integrally cast rectangular loop. The mount is 24.18mm long, 33.77mm wide, 3.10mm thick. The loop is 15.21mm long, 4.05mm deep.

Post Medieval cast copper alloy 'S' shaped strap or belt fitting in the form a snake. There is an incomplete circular loop attached to one end. It is 40.98mm long, 20.04mm wide, 7.55mm thick and the loop has a diameter of 16.63mm. Weight 21 grams.

Roman cast copper alloy strap slide, comprised of a central square body and projecting arm. The main body has a raised cast circle on its upper surface, and an integrally cast square loop on the reverse. This loop is off centre, positioned closer to the projecting arm. The projecting arm is incomplete with a worn break, and has a 'D' shaped cross section. The integral loop has a sub-rectangular cross section. Cast copper alloy Roman strap slide. The main body of the strap slide is spade shaped in plan (as in the card suit) in that it is tri-lobed with a short triangular shank between the two lower lobes. It is flat in section. The front and reverse are both plain. To the reverse of the strap slide is the integral rectangular loop to accommodate the strap. The plate portion of the fitting is 19.54mm long, 18.44mm wide and 1mm thick. The loop is 16.22mm wide and 9.78mm high. The object weighs 3.20g. The object has an abraded mid green patina.

Incomplete 16th Century copper alloy sword belt fitting. This fitting would have originally had three hooked fittings attached to the main mount plate, but only one survives in this instance. The mount plate is 70.18mm long, 28.28mm wide (to the bottom of the suspension loops) and 2.24mm thick. Cast in one piece, the mount plate is barely convex, thus with a semicircular section, and is shaped into a trifoliate design at either end, with the side opposite the suspension, loops shaped into three peaks for decorative effect.
