An incomplete Early Medieval (late Anglo Saxon) copper-alloy zoomorphic strap end (750-1100 AD). This is a Thomas Class A, Type 5 strap end with a split-ended plate pierced by two rivet holes (one copper alloy rivet remaining in-situ), gradually tapering down to the zoomorphic terminal. Traces of leather or fabric appear to have survived between the split-end plate.
