A sheet copper-alloy fragment of a possible socketed skimmer handle, similar to more complete examples from Norwich (Margeson, 1993, 118-119, fig 84 no 743 and 745), most likely to be early post medieval, 1600-1700 in date.
This fragment consists of a tubular flattened piece of sheet copper-alloy, the two longitudinal ends overlap and there is a copper-alloy rivet holding them together. The socket end is complete and the other end, which would probably have flared into an integral skimmer, is missing due to old breaks, now worn. One folded longitudinal edge is also missing due…
