An incomplete cast lead mount of medieval to post-medieval date (c.1300-1600). Description: The mount is in the form of a five-armed wavy star, two of which surive, the rest being stubs. Each slightly curved arm is sub-triangular in cross-section so that they are rasied at their centres. Smaller arms, inbeween these, are all broken off at their bases. A complete lead spindle whorl of uncertain date. It is plano-convex in shape with a convex upper surface and a flat base. It is sub circular in shape with a central circular hole of internal diameter 9.2mm. The weight is 23.40mm in diameter and is 11.8mm thick. It weighs 34.68g. It has a light gray/white patina and is decorated with low bosses.  Objects such as these were used for a long period of time for a variety of functions with little change in form.
