Record ID: LEIC-1A458B
Object type: CLOTH SEAL
Broad period: MEDIEVAL
County: Suffolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Late medieval lead alloy cloth seal, 2mm thick and 22mm in diameter with a weight of 4.21grams. The seal is circular in form and rectangular in cross section. It is an incomplete three part seal and has a raised circle in the centre of one face. This is decorated with a probable design of incised lines, but this is now unclear. The other side has the arms of England, three lions passant guardant, which was the Royal crest until 1399. The seals decoration is similar to BERK-8B09C4, which has been dated to the 15th century.
