Now flattened and squashed, the piece is comprised of a cylindrical piece of sheet metal folded in on itself multiple times. The join is overlapping rather than soldered. Description: A complete gold early medieval (early Anglo-Saxon) imitation bracteate. It is formed from a disc of sheet metal with a separate short strip of gold, 4.06mm wide and 0.64mm thick, soldered into a suspension loop at one side. There is no wire border framing this disc and no clear evidence that this was ever present, but a pellet border around the outer edge of the outer face is probably an imitation of this. This ring has a large pryamid-shaped head around the inset glass/jewel, which is bordered on either side of the band by incised slightly-curved arches.
