Description: An incomplete gold Anglo Saxon buckle pin of unusual form. The pin is complete and curves downwards whilst tapering gently in width towards its terminal end, it is D-shaped in section, being flat underneath. The terminal end is open and flat and shows that the pin is in fact hollow and now filled with soil. In fact the pin appears to be constructed from two separate sheets of gold, a front sheet bent into a U-shape which is soldered onto a back plate.
