Treasure report from J Rudoe: A complete gold posy ring with relatively thick, circular D-shaped hoop. The exterior surface of the hoop is undecorated, but has been folded inwards on one side due to post-depositional damage. The interior face of the hoop has an incised inscription that reads 'God above increas our love', followed by two identical maker's marks that consist of the letters F C within a shield that has a zig-zag top and bilobate base. The mark is not recorded in any of the standard sources. This is a borderline case since the style of both the mark and the lettering co…

A gold double-escudo coin, or 'cob', struck in a South American mint by Spanish authorities. The coin is heavily clipped to the extent that the legends are entirely missing. However, the surviving types suggest it is probably a 2 escudo coin minted in the Nuevo Reino mint in Bogota, Columbia and probably struck during the reign of Charles II of Spain (B. Cook, British Museum, pers. comm.). The Habsburg arms on the coin suggest it dates prior to 1700 AD, perhaps c.1665-1700 AD.
