Description: An irregular sub-rectangular fragment of 'hack' gold, cut on its upper and lower edges, curving slightly in plan and demonstrating some faceting to its upper face. Date: c. 1500 BC-1800 AD Dimensions: The fragment measures 10.82mm down its longest axis, 8.61mm wide by 1.27mm thick at its midpoint, and weighs 1.05g. Discussion: A number of similar gold fragments have been recorded on the PAS database via the Treasure Act, including LANCUM-681051 and SWYOR-784244. Description: A complete but squashed gold finger ring of earlier Roman date. The 'D' sectioned hoop is somewhat slender and has been (deliberately?) broken at its base, the two ends subsequently folded in on each other. The shoulders are plain, expanding into an oval bezel at their apex. The latter is decorated with the faint incised design of a palm frond, but is otherwise plain. A gold hammered halfcrown struck for James I, dating c. 1623-1624. Tower mint, Third coinage, initial mark: lis. As North 2093. This coin demonstrates a circular piercing directly behind the bust, interestingly, a feature which is also present in an identical position on another halfcrown recorded by the PAS database (see HAMP-89C680).
