M. Henig, Corpus of Roman Engraved Gemstones from British Sites, BAR 8 (1974), ii, 79, no. 581, and pl. XVIII, described and illustrated the inset of the gold ring; and pl. XLI Series B included a view of the hoard, with pot and gold ring, in Ipswich Museum. The description ran: "Figure standing towards the front, very probably Mars or some other deity was intended, but the body has been gouged away (? deliberate defacement by a Christian owner). Nicolo paste. 16 x 13 x 3.5 mm. Flat. Oval Set in a gold ring.". gem: 16 x 13 x 3.5 mm
