Two fourth-early fifth century ad gold solidii. The coins were issued by Honorius (AD 393-423), the last legitimate emperor to hold sway over Roman Britain. One coin is from the mint of Milan, the other from Ravenna (the latter exhibiting typical plough damage sometimes seen on coins that have undergone archaeological burial)
They are of the same period and from the same findspot as a previous discovery of six gold solidi bringing the total to eight pieces:

840 gold Icenian staters associated with the base of a pot.
An initial 756 examples reported by the finder. .
Total weight (with plastic bags) 4.134kg.
An additional 27 staters were later recovered by the finder raising the total to 783.
Addendum: Following British Museum funded excavation of the hoard site by Suffolk County Council Archaeological Service in October 2008 a further 42 staters were recovered. Two quarter nobles found very close together. One is of Edward III, the other of Henry V. They surely represent part of a hoard or purse loss. Some wear as well as scuffing is evident and we might suppose a date of loss or depostion at some point in the mid-15th century.
