This type arrived in Britain around the mid-2nd century AD and their distribution in concentrated in the Thames valley (Rudd 2010, 11).

A complete gold Iron Age Iceni stater dating to the period c.AD 10-c.40. ABC 'Antedios Triple Moons' Type, inscribed 'ANTEDI' in reference to the ruler Antedio(s).
Rudd (2010, 87) writes 'the three crescent moons may symbolise a regal triumvirate of Antedios, Ecen and another ruler whose name is unknown to us. The six stylised neck torcs may signify not only royalty, but also religious leadership. Icenian kings may also have been chief priests of the tribe'.
