A gold Kupang of Queen Taj al-'Alam Safiat al-din Shah from Aceh, Sumatra dating to c.1641-1675 AD. Nicholas Rhodes (Secretary General of the Oriental Numismatic Society; pers. comm. via John Naylor PAS Finds Advisor) notes that this is one of the more common Acenese gold coins and should have a gold fineness of about 60%, it is also a little under the standard weight for this issue of 0.59g.

Treasure report from J Rudoe:
A complete gold posy ring with relatively thick, circular D-shaped hoop. The exterior surface of the hoop is undecorated, but has been folded inwards on one side due to post-depositional damage. The interior face of the hoop has an incised inscription that reads 'God above increas our love', followed by two identical maker's marks that consist of the letters F C within a shield that has a zig-zag top and bilobate base. The mark is not recorded in any of the standard sources. This is a borderline case since the style of both the mark and the lettering co…

Object type: FINGER RING

A gold finger ring of Post-Medieval date. It has a plain hoop measuring 20.6mm in external diameter, 16.97mm in internal diameter, and the hoop width 5.5mm. It weighs 7.01g. There is an inscription on the inside of the hoop which reads:" As true to the as death to me ,".
Judoe Rudoe, BM, notes that the inscription was in use by 1624 (recorded by Joan Evans) but there is no datable maker's mark, and the ring could be 17th or 18th century in date. The inscription is probably not a mourning one in the sense of commemorating a deceased person but rather a memento mori or reminder of death.
