An incomplete post-medieval to modern composite iron, copper-alloy and silver button or stud. The object appears to be composed from a thick copper-alloy disc with silver sheet metal applied to its outer face and wrapped around the sides. The outer face of the silver sheet metal is decorated with the engraved design of a bunch of peonies with foliage surrounding them. Traces of iron to either side of the reverse suggest that an iron wire attachment loop or rivets were positioned here originally. The decoration and construction together suggest a later post-medieval or modern date.

An incomplete copper alloy modern zoomorphic vessel or furniture foot. The object takes the form of a three-toed, clawed birds foot. A flat plate projects at a right-angle from the angle, terminating in a break where the edge of a circular attachment hole is visible. Two supportive knops project from the centre and rear edge of the base. The surface of the metal is corroded. An incomplete cast copper-alloy button of an unidentified Napoleonic Militia unit, probably dating c. 1795-1810. The shank is missing, but otherwise it is preserved intact. The front of the button is plano-convex in section and domed, with residual traces of gilding visible. alongside the design of the letters 'WHV' underneath a crown. 'WH' obviously refers to the location of the unit, while 'V' almost certainly stands for 'Volunteers'. The rear face of the button (where gilding survives to a much better degree) bears the name of the manufacturer: I. McGowan of King St, London. Preser…
