A rim sherd of a wheel-thrown ceramic Greyware jar or bowl of Roman date, circa AD100 - 300. The fabric is dark blackish-grey in colour with a hard and gritty texture and black burnished outer surface. Abundant inclusions of mica are present giving a speckled appearance within the fabric. The fragment has a thick beaded rim. The fragment is 113.2mm long, 41.39mm wide, Rim 14.27mm thick, body 5.51mm thick, and weighs 52.7g. Overall diameter: 18cm (projected using rim chart); approx.20% of rim remaining.

A fragment of a Roman Mortaria made from Oxford colour coated ware , dating to the period AD 50- 410. The fragment is broadly triangular in shape and includes part of the foot ring, a low pedestal-like ring formed on the base of a vessel to enable it to stand more securely. The fabric is a sandy orange colour on either side with the original grey colour still clearly visible in the centre of the cross-section.
