A sherd of coarseware pottery of probable Early-Medieval date. The fragment is a hand-made bodysherd of reduced ware, with a sandy temper, some mica and some fine white grits. The outer surface has been smoothed. The sherd measures 61.41mm x 42.17mm, is 9.6mm in thickness and weighs 28.12g. It may be of Anglo-Saxon date.

Three adjoining potsherds of Early Medieval date. The breaks are due to recent activity, probably the result of ploughing. The pottery has a brown, partly burnished surface and is tempered with fine grits, some mica and occasional larger white flint. When assembled, the sherds show a vessel, probably hand-made, with a wide and curving groove and resulting rib, running horizontally around it. Whilst there is some uncertainty about the date, it seems most likely that these are sherds from an Anglo-Saxon vessel such as a decorated bi-conical urn. Sherds of similar type have been recorded…
