An incomplete Medieval glazed floor tile. One corner is preserved with worn glazed decoration visible on the front face and along one of the complete edges. The fabric is fired hard, possibly burnt, with a dark grey core and orange/pink surfaces with some gritty inclusions. Two of the sides are neatly finished/smoothed off, terminating at both ends in old breaks, the other two sides now incomplete due to old breaks. On the front face is an inlaid and glazed decorative motif comprising a pale (yellow?) background containing an incomplete dark brown multifoil motif, possibly a quatrefoi…

An incomplete tile fragment of Roman date. It is missing its back face and all exterior edges due to old breaks. The tile has fired pale grey at the core, pink/orange at the surviving surface, with small sandy/gritty inclusions. The surviving surface has combed decoration comprising a transverse band at one edge, with diagonal grooves covering the remaining area of the surface. It measures 42.57mm in width, 36.35mm in length, 9.32mm in thickness, and weighs 18.37g. This tile fragment is of Roman date, c.43-410 AD.
