Post-medieval cast copper-alloy eagle figurine, perhaps from the lid of a vessel. Casting seam around sides of head and wings (wingspan of 40mm), feathers indicated by fine engraved lines and modelling. The bird has a flat base rather than feet, pierced by an iron rivet that continues through the body of the bird, with much corrosion on the upper body. Cast birds similar to the example noted here turn up on a fairly regular basis. Copper-alloy bell-shaped stud, probably from furniture. 34 mm in diameter, it has a prominent central conical projection and an integral blunt wedge-shaped projection on reverse. The reverse is usually socketed for a large inserted iron rivet. Cf South Shields (1984) 3.889-3.907. Romano-British.

This rather unusual object is similar to a mini terret in so far as it has a ring, presumably through which a strap passed. Unlike a typical mini terret, which would have an inset attachment bar at the base, this artefact has an attachment loop that is set at a 90° angle to the ring and hidden behind a decorative 'button'. How this object functioned is unclear, however, it is not isolated in terms of form. A medieval horse harness pendant and suspension mount. Both elements are scallop-shaped and gilded on their convex front faces. Both have a centrally placed circular perforation. The pendant is suspended & still swings from a copper-alloy spindle held by a fold in the mount. Overall length 51mm, width 15mm. 13th cent.

Slightly drooping short neck with one bulbous & one narrow moulding. Rowel box with small rowel bosses. Length of neck & box 17mm. Overall length now approx. 95mm.
