A fragment of a copper-alloy Early Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) strap end of Thomas Class E, Type 1 dating to the period c. AD 1000 - 1100. It would have comprised of an open-work design, but all that remains is the attachment end. The attachment plate retains three entrally positioned rivet holes. An incomplete copper-alloy strap end of Medieval date. It is a composite strap-end with a sheet spacer occupying the whole width, broadly rectangular in shape tapering in to terminate with a fleur de lis knop. One part of the plate is missing, the other is broken at the knop. The remaining plate has a hole for a now missing rivet a tthe terminal.
