A copper-alloy Byzantine pentanummium/five nummi piece of emperor Justinian I (527-565). The obverse is now blank but would originally have had a bust of an Emperor to the right and an inscription. On the reverse is the Greek letter epsilon or number 5, referring to the denomination of 5 nummi. There is a cross in the right of the field. It was struck between 542-565 in Constantinople. (Ref; MIBE 103b). EMC 2005.0026
