As stated by Dr Sam Moorhead in record LANCUM-4BD7B7, 'this rare coin was struck by Vindex, governor of Gallia Lugdunensis, during his revolt against Nero in March-May AD 68. The rebellion failed, but led to further revolts and the fall of Nero later in June 68. Vindex struck a number of different issues of coins in Gaul, although they are generally very rare.
