An incomplete copper-alloy hooked tag (Read Class D Type 6) of post-medieval date (c. 1500-1600 AD). Description: The main plate is sub-triangular with small, semi-circular projections around the outer edges. There are three applied domed bosses on the upper surface of the plate, of which two are nearly complete. Each of the domes has a central applied knop. There are six further knops arranged at regular intervals around the central knop, with each alternating knop surrounded by a ring of applied wire resembling a rope. An incomplete Post Medieval copper-alloy hooked tag (dress hook) dating to circa AD 1500-1550. At the apex is a rectangular attachment loop, plano-convex in section. The body is circular with a surrounding floriate design of openwork oval voids resembling petals. Separating the petals from the centre is a raised linear border. The central cell is plain and now broken. The hook is missing.

A complete Post Medeival copper-alloy hooked tag dating to circa AD 1550-1600. D-shaped in section, at the top is an trapezoidal loop with rectangular openwork void. Two circular moulded knops project from the front face at the junction of the loop and plate. The plate is comprised of openwork trefoil lobes. The rear-facing hook projects from the centre of the lower lobe and tapers into a point. Similar examples are recorded in Read 2008: pg 110, nos 436-438. See also SWYOR-442709. Post-medieval copper-alloy hooked tag of Read (2008), Class E, Type 3 and similar to ibid. No. 418. It is cast in one piece and consists of a plate, attachment loop and hook. The plate has an openwork and low relief design on the front consisting of a pair of mirror-image spirals separated by an openwork void but joined together at their outer tips at the hook side, thereby creating a little crest pointing towards the attachment loop. The front face of the plate is decorated with a moulded circumferential border set inside which is a hollowed domed boss bearing a stylised human face in relief. The interior of the frame has penwork decoration, with two moulded scrolls projecting inwards. A triangular lip projects from the upwards into the openwork from a rectangular collar set below. A complete Medieval to Post-Medieval copper-alloy dress hook dating from AD 1500-1650. It is flat with rounded edges. It has a a rectangular attachment loop, and a circular plate, with a hook projecting from the bottom the plate. The plate is openwork, consisting of a six petalled flower radiating from a central circular point. The back is plain. It is consistent with Read's Class E, Type 3 dating to circa AD 1500-1650, and similar to a range of examples depicted in Read 2008: pg 97-100. A complete Medieval to Post Medieval copper alloy hooked tag dating to circa AD 1500-1650. It consists of a rectangular lobe at the upper edge set below which is a rectanglar panel. Emerging from the base of the panel is a an openwork hemispherical section consisting of six apertures. It is decorated with raised moulded petals. The now bent and distorted hook emerges from the base of the hemispherical section. It is consistent with Read 2008: pg 90, no 313 dating to late Medieval to Early Post Medieval periods. Length: 33.29mm; Width: 14.53mm; Thickness: 1.63mm; Weight: 1.49g.
