An incomplete Early Medieval copper-alloy strap end dating to circa AD 750-950. It consists of a single plate with zoomoprhic terminal which splits at the end. It is plano-convex in section and broadly rectangular in plan. The zoomorphic terminal consists of the snout of a beast and is now heavily worn. A complete Medieval copper-alloy strap end dating to circa AD 1150-1450. Now heavily worn and broiken it is two piece strap end formed of two joined plates. Rectangular in plan, the teriminal is pointed. At the attachment end, the the plates split, joined by an in situ copper-alloy rivet. The edges are now jagged and uneven and significant traces of white metal coating can be seen on the exterior faces of each plate.   Similar examples are depicted in Egan and Pritchard 1991: pg 157, fig 103. Length: 39mm; Width: 7.3mm; Thickness: 2.2mm; Weight: 1.48g.

An incomplete probable Early Medieval copper-alloy strap end dating to circa AD 750-1000. The extant piece consists of the the zoomorphic terminal and one plate. The other is missing. It is long and narrow, the top end has a single hole for attaching to a strap. Multiple cross grooving is apparent with some gilding or silvering in the grooves.  The lower terminal end has a moulded stylised horse head with projecting eyes and a rounded, three-lobed muzzle. A complete Medieval copper-alloy strap end dating to circa AD 1250-1450. A composite strap end formed of two joined plates, it is broadly rectangular in plan. At one end is a trefoil terminal. At the other, the plates are joined together by an intact copper alloy rivet. The faces of the strap end are plain. A similar example is illustrated in Griffiths et al pg 135 no 1536. An inncomplete Medieval copper-alloy 'shield-shaped' strap end dating to circa AD 1150-1450. The attachment edge has a rectangular in plan and D-shaped in section bar mount. The body of the strap end consists of a sheet of copper-alloy with a crescentic, shield-shaped terminal. It has two notches along the edges. Two intact, circular rivets project from one face. An incomplete Medieval copper-alloy strap end dating to circa AD 1150-1450. The extant piece is a forked spacer from a medieval composite strap end. It has a broadly oval knop in the shape of an acorn, underneath of which is a transverse rectangular collar. Only one prong of the spacer is now intact. At the segment between the spacer and the terminal is a drilled circular rivet hole. Similar strap ends are recorded in Egan and Pritchard 1991: pg 144, fiog 94, nos 680-682. A complete Roman to Early Medieval copper-alloy strap dating to circa AD 300-450. At one end is a double loop with circular apertures. From here emerges a triangular in plan plate with flared outer edge. Its edges are bevelled. The reverse is split towards the attachment end, enabling the positioning of fabric. An incomplete medieval strap end consisting of one remaining plate from the original. The plate is rectangular with the end nearest to the original belt attachment having a wavy shape with a rivet hole just below the end which is in the centre of two parallel lines below the wavy end. The distant end is rounded and the plate is undecorated. The plate is a dark brown colour.
