An incomplete copper-alloy Medieval non-armorial harness pendant. It is worn, and  broadly crescent shaped, with an extant harness suspension loop. There is some visible decoration in the form of stamped circular dots, creating a lozenge shape. It's shape, decoration and design suggest an earlier date 12th/13th century, with similar shapes seen in Ashley, 2002, pg 5, fig 5, 1-3. Weight: 3.25g Width: 31.13mm Length: 34.53mm

Cast bronze ring, irregular in section but generally between circular and oval. Three holes appear to be the result of air pockets during the casting. Signs of wear through use.

This is an example of a 'hanger' or 'dangler' that may have been attached to any number of things. There are three examples from Kingsholm in Gloucester which seem to have been attached to the corners of a casket, potentially acting as handles, others may have been decorative items of horse equipment, and some from the continent seem to have been hung from a chatelaine. The shank, which is now broken, would originally have finished in a loop. The roundel follows the three legged triskele or whirligig theme seen on other 'hangers' from Britain, however, rather than having the three legs…

Copper alloy link. One loop, diameter internally 8mm, is set at right angles to a smaller pair of loops, internal diams 7mm, which are joined to it by curving arms; the two small loops almost touch but do not join. On one face only there are two rows of punched triangles immediately below the juction with the large ring; this decoration probably extends onto the small rings but the surface is in very poor condition. Overall length 37mm, width of the two rings 27mm, thickness of these 4mm. The decoration and metal condition suggest a date from the Roman period onwards and probably not l…
