The foot and incomplete catchplate of a Roman bow brooch. The bow has a deep central groove, giving it a U-shaped section and shollow grooves bound trasnverse hatching on the top faces each side. The foot terminal is missing. The surviving part of the catchplate is unusual in having light incised decoration on both faces consisting of hatched and open triangles. a copper alloy Roman bow brooch fragment, trumpet type. It is the mid and upper bow only, with a trumpet head 13.7mm in width and a complete spring loop. It has three petal shapes separated y two peltas decorating the upper bow, the central petal with white enamel infill still remaining. There is moulding, consisting of a longitudinal rib, and transverse lines and banding across the entire bow fragment. It measures 30.12mm in length and 5.56mm in width across the bow, weighing 6.76g. The decoration ressembles that of Hattatt 432.

This is the "lion-shaped" element of the bow, with square rivet attached to a sheet fragment from the lower bow. The stylised animal shape is conveyed by transverse mouldings and a hole at the top on the break represents the division between the lions back legs below the join to the spring cover. Surviving length 24mm, width at lower bow junction 10mm. As Hattatt no.280. The lion bow type is related to the Rosette series and Continental in origin.

Part of one wing, the spring, pin, most of the rear hook and catchplate are now missing due to old breaks, The brooch has a dark brown patina with patches of light green corrosion. The wings are semi-cylindrical and have transverse mouldings across them, The rear hook would have held the spring cord and is now incomplete. A copper-alloy Roman Colchester derivative hinged type bow brooch, missing its pin only. The wings are folded round to form a cylindrical case around a copper-alloy axis bar on which the now missing pin was hinged in the centre. The wings have transverse grooves across their terminals and diagonal grooves between these are the bow. The bow has a D-shaped section and a central rib with grooves to either side of it one third of the way down, the rest of the bow and foot has transverse mouldings across it. The catchplate is small and unpierced. This brooch measures 32.97mm in length …

A copper-alloy incomplete Iron Age Colchester type bow brooch, circa first half or the first century in date. It is missing the catchplate, and most of the spring. It is a one piece brooch with short flat wings and the bow has an oval section. The hook which would have held the cord originally survives. It measures 55.52mm in length and 9.55mm in width.

Colchester derivative with double pierced lug type Roman bow brooch, complete apart from pin. The wings are semi-cylindrical and undecorated. The lug at the back of the wings has two holes, the upper one carries the spring cord and the lower one the axis bar. The spring has eight coils, the lug becomes a central rib on the upper bow, this rib flattens the rest of the length of the bow and there is transverse notching lower down it. The catchplate is unpierced and has a pin groove. This brooch measures 40.02mm in length and 18.90mm in width.
