An incomplete cast copper-alloy Roman bow brooch, probably a Colchester derivative with double pierced lug. Only the foot of the bow and catch plate survive, the remainder of the object is missing due to old breaks, now worn. The bow is triangular in section with a prominent longitudinal central rib on the front face with flutes to either side. It has a flat back face. At the base of the bow is an integrally cast catch plate that is triangular in form with a rectangular pin groove. This bow brooch measures 36.10mm in length, 5.63mm in width, 3.50mm in thickness, 3.04g in weight.…
