The bow is D-shaped in section with two transverse grooves on the front face, towards the base. At the base of the bow is an integrally cast catch plate that is triangular in form with triangular openwork decoration and a rectangular pin groove.

It has a flat, rectangular head. The front face is decorated with four longitudinal grooves. Either side of the bottom of the head is oval knop with a D-shaped section and two transverse grooves. Beneath the head is a triangular bow with a transverse groove at the top. The foot is oval with a transverse groove. There are also the remnants of the pin. The bow is slightly concave with a central ridge. Much of the foot, and catchplate of the brooch is absent. Similar to Hattatt 1989, fig. 179, no. 1499.
