Copper alloy brooch fragment, lion bow type. Part of the upper bow only, corroded surfaces. This is the "lion-shaped" element of the bow, with square rivet attached to a sheet fragment from the lower bow. The stylised animal shape is conveyed by transverse mouldings and a hole at the top on the break represents the division between the lions back legs below the join to the spring cover. Surviving length 24mm, width at lower bow junction 10mm. As Hattatt no.280. The lion bow type is related to the Rosette series and Continental in origin.

A copper-alloy Iron Age/Roman Colchester type bow brooch, incomplete, missing pin, part of spring and part of catchplate, also now bent. Measuring 23.80mm in bent length, 13.90mm in width across the wings. It has flat short wings, three coils of the spring survive, the spring and now missing pin are a continuation of the body and the cord also survives and is held by the hook, which also comes out of the body and is bent forward onto the bow. The bow is flat backed and has longitudinal decoration. The catchplate has the remains of two circular holes through it.

A copper-alloy incomplete Iron Age Colchester type bow brooch, circa first half or the first century in date. It is missing the catchplate, and most of the spring. It is a one piece brooch with short flat wings and the bow has an oval section. The hook which would have held the cord originally survives. It measures 55.52mm in length and 9.55mm in width.

The worn incomplete wings and upper bow fragment of a copper-alloy Late Iron Age to early Roman Langton Down type bow brooch, such brooches occur frequently in pre-conquest contexts but are also found in contexts dated post AD 43. It has a cylindrical spring cover, which is covered with adhering iron corrosive products. The bow is flat backed with reeding down the front. Similar to examples from Hacheston (Plouviez, 2004, 91-92, no 36). Measuring 19.45mm in length and 20.65mm in width.

A copper-alloy late Iron Age-Roman bow brooch of nauheim derivative type with a flat bow. It is incomplete as the spring is incomplete, pin missing and catchplate incomplete due to wear. The bow head narrows with curved sides into the circular section spring, two coils of the spring survive. The bow is flat and although worn has traces of longitudinal lines, it tapers towards the foot from 8.22mm to 2.77mm in width. It measures 57.64mm in total length.

A copper-alloy late Iron Age-Roman bow brooch of Colchester type. Similar to Hacheston examples (Plouviez 2004, 93-94, no 63). It has short wings and a rounded sectioned bow. The spring and pin are a continuation of the body and three coils of the spring now survive, the pin is missing. The chord is held by a hook which comes out of the body and is bent forward onto the bow. The bow is now bent and the catchplate incomplete, although the remains of two circular holes can be seen through it. This brooch measures 41.43mm in length and 14.63mm in width.

A worn copper-alloy Roman bow brooch of colchester type, incomplete as missing most of pin and catchplate. Measuring 43.86mm in length and 18.83mm in width. This is a one piece brooch with short flat wings on a rounded section bow. The cord is held by a hook which comes out of the body and is bent forward onto the bow. The spring is a continuation of the body and normally so would the pin be but in this case there appears to be a modified seperate pin, persumably put in place after the original one broke. A worn, incomplete and distorted colchester type Roman bow brooch. A one piece brooch with short flat wings, the hook which held the now missing cord comes out of the body and is bent forward onto the bow. the spring and pin and catchplate are missing. The bow is unusual as it is flattened and has a rectangular section and is decorated with a central longitudinal band of beading. This brooch is similar to Hattatt no 1456 (Hattatt 1989, 296, fig 155, 1456). It measures 36.08mm in length and 11.75mm in width.

The wings are short and flat and the bow has a rounded section and tapers to a flattened point. a copper alloy Iron Age bow brooch fragment. It is the bow only, which is arched and flat-backed. The bow is an oval shape, with moulded decoration outlining the edges, and a single central longitudinal ridge . Both terminals are incomplete, due to old breaks. The bow measures 28.78mm in length and is 10.73mm maximum width in the centre, tapering to 2.25 and 3.2mm at the terminals. It weighs 7.29g. Similar brooches are illustrated in Hull and Hawkes 1987, pl.323,such as nos 2923, 7376 and 2931. They are part of the Type 1B classification, and date to the fourth century BC.

A Roman copper-alloy Colchester type bow brooch. Missing pin and catch plate, spring is also distorted with five coils surviving. The wings are short and flat and have slight traces of possible tranverse grooves, the bow is has a flattened D-shaped section and is decorated with longitudinal wavy ribs. The bow tapers to a rounded pointed temrinal and is bent due to distortion. Measures 29.37mm in length, 14.76mm in width.

A copper-alloy fragment of a probable Roman bow brooch, a part of what appears to be th upper bow survives and the rest is missing due to old breaks. The fragment tapers at one end and has a D-shaped section, there are traces of worn longitudinal grooves and the wider end appears to be flaring into a cylindrical spring case. This brooch is therefore perhaps most likely to be a Langton Down type, although too litle survives to be sure. It measures 16.15mm in suriving length and 10.45mm in width.

A very worn and corroded fragment of a copper-alloy of a Roman bow brooch most similar to a rosette type, presumably a variant of this (Hattatt 1985, 44, fig 19, no. 286). The incomplete wings and the upper fragment of the bow survive, no original edges survive so the shape of the bow is unknown. There is a projecting circular stud through the centre of the bow and faint traces of concentric moulded circles around this can be seen. It measures 21.11mm in length and 23.23mm in width.

a copper alloy Roman bow brooch, Colchester one-piece type. It is incomplete, with spring, pin and catchplate missing. It has short flat wings, 8.42mm wide, with an incomplete hook coming from the body and bent back toward the bow. The bow has a round front and faceted back, and tapers to a point. The brooch measures 48.18mm in length and weighs 3.39g. A similar,though complete, example is illustrated from Hacheston(Blagg et al 2004, no.63)dated to the early part of the first century AD.
