An incomplete lead-alloy ampulla dating to circa AD 1150-1450. Its body is circular with a flattened base and a long rectangular neck. Now squashed flat, the neck is rectangular in plan and would have been hollowed, to allow for holy water to fill the vessel. The neck is incomplete, terminating in an old brea. An incomplete Medieval lead-alloy ampulla dating to circa AD 1350-1500. It is rectangular in plan and D-shaped in section. The front face is curved. It has a socketed mouth and straight neck. The socketed mouth is now squashed and its edge jagged and broken. Two D-shaped handle lugs project from either side. The outer face has an incised design which is now heavily abraded but likely represented a scalloped shell. The reverse face is plain.

An incomplete Medieval lead-alloy ampulla dating to circa AD 1350-1500. It is rectangular in plan with asocketed mouth and tapering neck. The terminal is rounded. The incomplete remnants of two lugs project from either side One face of the terminal has a raised scallop shell design. The other face depicts a raised initial R set within a raised circular border.

An incomplete cast lead scallop shell-shaped ampulla of Medieval date. It has suffered from some post-depositional damage as he mouth/neck is largely missing and the body is bent. An incomplete Medieval lead-alloy ampulla dating to circa AD 1150-1350. It's body is circular with a flattened base and a long rectangular neck. Now squashed flat, the neck is rectangular in plan and would have been hollowed, to allow for holy water to fill the vessel. Only half of the neck survives. The edges of the body are rounded. The front face of the body is heavily worn. but there appears to be an incsed four petalled floral motif on one face.
Ampullae containing holy water would have been brought home as souvenirs by pilgrims from holy sites.…

A near complete, lead or lead alloy, Medieval ampulla, dating to c. AD 1300-1500. The object consists of a flattened bulb like vessel with a single wide mouth opening at the top and two attachment loops on either side. One face of the ampulla has a heart within a square, possibly with a crown above. On the other face is a flower design made of four petals, in the orientation of a cross. The lip of the object has been slightly damaged.

An incomplete Medieval lead ampulla now survived in two fragments dating to circa AD 1350-1550. The two fragments are squashed and bent. The larger piece has (moulded in relief) on one side a crown, with a central fleur and possibly side fleurs. Beneath the curved band of the crown there is some cross-hatching. The other side has a quatrefoil leaf shaped motif, the leaves have life like median ribs and chevron veins.
It is similar to NMS-C2E915 dated to between AD 1350-1550.

An incomplete medieval lead ampulla dating to AD 1300 - 1500. It is flask-shaped with a rounded bowl beneath a neck which has been broken in old damage. The base of the neck is decorated with two transverse ridges which run in line with the stubs of what were two suspension loops, one on either side, and the bowl is decorated on one face with scallop shell reeding. Any decoration on the other face has been lost through old damage.

An incomplete lead Medieval ampulla, dating to AD 1300-1500. It is hollow and it has a flask shape with an oval bowl and a narrow incomplete neck. The two short sides of the ampulla have a complete V-shaped loop frame where the neck meets the bowl; the frames point upward and define a sub-triangular loop. The back face of the bowl has radiant grooves imitating the shell surface, while the front face has a cast letter W. Both faces are bevelled and are slightly dented.

Ampullae are known from the late 12th century and were replaced by the popularity of pilgrim badges in the early 14th century, but are thought to have continued in use to the end of the 15th century.

One face of the bowl has a cast flower with six pointed-oval petal and three pellets between them; there is a pellet at the centre of the flower.
