A silver 'sovereign' penny of Henry VIII, (1509-1547). Reverse: CIVITAS LONDON; long cross over square shield, saltire stops between words.
The first coinage with the initial mark a portcullis minted at London and dating to AD1509-1526.
The coin has been pierced from the reverse through to the obverse through the head of the king.
