A complete probable Early Medieval lead spindle whorl dating to circa AD 500-850. Cast in one piece it is comprised of a flat base with steep, conical walls and a central perforation with a diameter of 6.8mm Though difficult to date without secure stratigraphic information, spindle whorls of this form are consistent with Walton Rogers form A1-2, dating to the early to middle Saxon period (2007).

It has a flat base with a domed and slightly flattened apex and a central hole of 9.3mm in diameter. The object is 27.0mm in diameter, 13.2mm thick, and weighs 45.79g. The whorl has a mid-grey patina.  A similar example is SWYOR-057095. Form A1 whorls are known from AD 500 - 1000, but the size of the central hole (over 9mm) makes a late Saxon date more likely.
