Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A fragment of the rim of a cast copper-alloy cooking vessel of late Medieval to Post medieval date ( 1450-1600 ). The fragment is sub-rectangular. Due to the small size of the fragment it is not possible to estimate with any accuracy the original size of the vessel, although it would seem to have been a very large diameter, for instance consistant with that of a cooking cauldron. Both interior and exterior surfaces have a smooth coating with dark green colouration. The rim projects in ovate shape from the exterior of the vessel but is flat on the interior surface.

Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A cast copper alloy penannular ring of probable early medieval to medieval date. The ring is oval in plan. The band starts with a thin collar before each terminal. The diameter of the band just beyond each collar is approx 2.5mm and widens to 4.4mm at the thickest part of the band. The terminals consist on one side of a loop of wire that turns back on itself and overlays close to the collar, and on the other a flatterned tag with a broken wire hook that would originally have engaged with the loop terminal to close the object. An exact parallel could not be found but the patina, s…
