An incomplete cast copper alloy Roman seal box, comprising of only the base. It is rectangular, with a 5mm raised lip running around the inner edge and the remains of a double lug on one of the short sides. The lugs each show evidence of a hole through which a transverse pin would have formed a hinging point for the missing lid. Although corroded, the raised lip shows evidence of a rectangular notch on the each of the long sides to accommodate the binding string. The base of a Roman copper-alloy seal box. It is rectangular and tray like (Andrews Type S), with sides that come up from the edge of the base at right angles. In each corner of the base is a circular perforation. At the centre of each short side, at the top, is a lug: a single lug on one, and a double lug on the other. The upper surface of the single lug features a pit. The double lug is curved upwards at its end where both lugs are perforated for a separate copper-alloy axis bar.
