""A hoard of Roman silver denarii was discovered in Lowestoft, Suffolk, about 1877. Exact details of the discovery are lacking, but a manuscript report dated March 1877 records that the hoard, which was found on the property of a W R Seago Esq., Parish of Lowestoft, was said to consist entirely of silver coins, plus a fibula and a 'piece of urn'. A total of 38 coins, together with the original report, were acquired in 1970 by Mr P Munro-Walker, who has kindly made them available for publication.

A copper alloy sestertius of Crispina dating to the period c. AD 178 to 188 (Reece Period 9), possibly SALVS S C, Salus seated left. Mint of Rome. RIC III, p. 442, cf. no. 672. Crispina’s coinage was traditionally dated to c. AD 178-182, but more recent research suggests that she was probably not exiled to Capri until AD 188. Therefore, we date her coins to c. AD 178-188; although some coins probably date to AD 178-80, we cannot be sure which they are so all Crispina’s coins are assigned to Reece Period 9 (AD 180-192).
