An incomplete copper-alloy late Iron Age to Roman birdlip brooch. All that remains of the upper bow/head is a bent oval section with a transverse groove on its upper surface providing little information about its original form. Below this a flattened disc-shaped section projects outwards from the outer face of the bow with a pointed crescentic section below it curving downwards and outwards. A complete copper-alloy seal matrix of Medieval date.The base/die is circular in shape and a long, hexagonally faceted handle projects from the reverse terminating in a small trefoil suspension loop with a collar around its base. The outer face of the die is decorated with an engraved simple fleur-de-lis motif in the centre surrounded by a dotted line inner circle and then the inscription '*VIO[]LARAE', the meaning of which is uncertain (and is likely to be a mispelling). A fragment of a copper-alloy early medieval (late Anglo-Saxon) strap end with inlaid niello and silver wire decoration. Only the lower zoomorphic terminal end survives. The outer face of the terminal has moulded, C-shaped 'ears' curving inwards to either side of its inner end and an inwards cuving, blunt snout, but few other visible features. A small sub-lozenge-shaped section of niello remains in the centre of the head with inlaid silver wire in an S-shape with additional curls to either side. An incomplete copper-alloy medieval harness pendant with suspension mount. The pendant is shaped like an eagle, wings folded and head turned left, although is now heavily corroded obscuring much of the details. A suspension loop projects from the apex of the bird's head, positioned at a right-angle to it. An incomplete copper-alloy medieval harness pendant. It is fleur-de-lis shaped, but the lower end and sides are now missing. The inner end of a suspension loop projects from the upper end, positioned at a right-angle to the rest of the pendant. Its outer end is now missing. The surface of the metal is corroded with a reddish brown patina and the breaks are well worn.

Description: The object remains as one of the zoomorphic terminals and a section of its loop. A stub of the bar projects from the animal's mouth. An incomplete copper-alloy medieval annular buckle/brooch. The hoop is circular in both shape and cross-section, its outer face decorated with fine transverse ribs. A simple copper-alloy pin with moulded annular head remains in situ.
Without a recess for the pin this is best defined as a buckle, although its delicate, decorative form shows some similarities to medieval annular brooches. Egan and Pritchard (1991, 64) suggest that the annular buckle form was in use from the late 14th century into the Post-Medieval period and they are difficult to date more closely.
