Two circular projections emerge from either end of the dome, housing copper-alloy rivets. One rivet is intact The front of the dome is decorated with four beaded transverse grooves. The reverse is plain. The object is very seimilar to OXON-D43365, noted to be similar to example in Egan and Pritchard 1991: pg 214, no 1148, dating to the late 14th century. A complete Post Medieval copper-alloy mount dating to the period circa 1600-1700 AD. Its head is circular in plan with a flat bottom. Its front face bears a moulded floral design consisting of a central pellet surrounded by 8 flanking pellets, as if a stamen and petals. From the reverse projects a rectangular-sectioned shank which tapers into a point. The mount is consistent with a range depicted in Read 2016: pg 38-40. A probable Roman copper-alloy mount surviving in two fragments dating to circa AD 43-410. The surviving piece consists of a single openwork loop. The loop has an internally facing rectangular knop on its inner edge, the function of which is unclear. A rectangular body joins the loop to the remains of a second, smaller loop now survived by one short stub. Two pointed knops project from the end of the body. White metal coating covers the front face of the object. The two pieces fitted together measure - Length: 24.1mm; Width: 21.2mm; Thickness: 1.4mm; Weight: 1.53g.
