Single looped trapezoidal shaped buckle frame, dating to the late medieval period, c. 1300 - 1500. The frame is undecorated and 'D' shaped in cross section. It takes the form of a trapezoid, with slightly expanding arms and a narrowed strap bar with protruding terminal knops on the strap bar. The underside if flat and undecorated. The buckle frame is plain and undecorated. The buckle frame is a dark green colour with some mid brown patching. An incomplete post-medieval cast copper-alloy double loop asymmetrical buckle with moulded decoration, dating to AD 1575-1700. The front surface is bevelled and the rear is flat. The loop where the pin rested is sub rectangular and the other loop is D-shaped, separated by a central strap bar. An incomplete cast copper alloy double looped buckle of Post-Medieval date, about AD 1500 - 1650. It is sub-rectangular in form with rounded corners and a slightly shorter strap bar than outer edges. The outer edges are straight. The pin is missing. The upper side is bevelled and the underside is flat. The strap bar is cast at an angle within the frame, and this along with the straight outer edges of the frame indicate that this example is made to a poor quality standard. A complete cast copper alloy boot or garter buckle of post-medieval date. The buckle is rectangular in plan with a rounded corners and a drilled frame with a separate spindle with a double spiked tongue. The metal has a brownish patina with some of the original tinning still showing. Measurements : Length 16.06mm , Width 13.89mm , Thickness 2.56mm at the bar , Weight 1.1g. A similar example is illustrated in Whitehead, p.114, no.734 and is dated to circa AD 1720 - 1790.

An elaborate zoomorphic form of cast copper alloy buckle dating to the early part of the medieval period. The frame is D-shaped in cross-section and the pin bar is narrowed and recessed. The pin is missing. The frame has a moulded and incised zoomorphic decoration. At either end of the pin bar there is a beasts head biting onto the pin bar. A complete cast copper alloy buckle of post-medieval date, (AD 1660-1720). The buckle is a sub-annular shoe or knee buckle with a drilled frame for a separate spindle. The frame is oval in plan and convex in cross section. The chape is looped round the steel strap bar. The end of the chape is rounded with a central rivet hole. The metal has a mid brown patina and is preserved in a good condition. Measurments:- Length 24.85mm , Width 18.18mm , Thickness 3.54mm and Weight 3.00g. A similar example is illustrated in Whitehead (2003) p.97, no.601 and is dated to circa AD 1660 - 1720.

A cast copper-alloy Post-Medieval (1720 to 1770) loop chape from a shoe buckle. The object is part of a two-piece shoe buckle. It would have been positioned underneath the buckle frame to secure it to the strap. The internal spikes would have been pushed through holes in the under-latchet whilst the over-latchet would be secured to the frame using the tongue. A complete cast copper-alloy Post Medieval buckle frame (the pin missing in old damage). The frame is double-looped and plano-convex in section, a bi-lobed knop with coincident pin groove visible on both outside edges of the frame and the strap bar narrowed. It measures 30.77mm long by 23mm wide and weighs 4.45g. Broadly similar to examples in Whitehead (2003), nos.374 and 379. c.1550-1650.
