An incomplete cast lead alloy pilgrim's ampulla dating to the Medieval period, c. AD 1300 - 1500. Only the lead flask and a small amount of the neck remains. The faces of the object would have been flat or slightly convex, but have been pressed in, or flattened. The object consists of a flattened bulb like vessel with a single wide mouth opening at the top and two attachment loops on either side. One face of the ampulla has a heart within a square, possibly with a crown above. On the other face is a flower design made of four petals, in the orientation of a cross. The lip of the object has been slightly damaged.

An incomplete Medieval lead ampulla now survived in two fragments dating to circa AD 1350-1550. The two fragments are squashed and bent. The larger piece has (moulded in relief) on one side a crown, with a central fleur and possibly side fleurs. Beneath the curved band of the crown there is some cross-hatching. The base of the neck is decorated with two transverse ridges which run in line with the stubs of what were two suspension loops, one on either side, and the bowl is decorated on one face with scallop shell reeding. The two short sides of the ampulla have a complete V-shaped loop frame where the neck meets the bowl; the frames point upward and define a sub-triangular loop. An incomplete lead medieval ampulla. Only the rounded body of the object survives, the neck around the opening is damaged and largely missing. The remaining body is very worn but decoration consisting of four raised oval leaf or petal shapes, each with raised chevrons across them, arranged in a cross. Traces of decoration are also visible on the other face, but are too corroded to be made out. A very similar example from Salisbury, is illustrated by Spence (1990, fig.186) but not discussed.
